Education Publications, Easy Composer Series: My First Schubert

Schott's Easy Composer Series features a wide selection of easier pieces by well-known composers, ideal for music lessons and playing at home. Each volume in the series focuses on one famous composer, offering pianists the chance to learn important repertoire which is suitable for their ability. Although too advanced for complete beginners, this series is well-suited to pianists who are reaching intermediate level and above.

Perfect for pianists looking to expand their classical music knowledge, the Easy Composer Series features music by Schubert, Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Haydn, and Grieg. You can find all available titles in the series here.

My First Schubert contains a selection of the great composer's easier to moderately difficult piano works, including the famous Trauerwalzer, Moment musical in F minor, the Impromptu in A flat major, as well as the most beautiful dances, marches and ländler from the rich repertoire of his famous salon pieces. In addition, this volume offers a selection of easy works for piano four hands. The perfect introduction to Romantic piano music!

Even Mozart had to learn how to play the piano. This collection of easy works includes pieces composed by both young Mozart and by his father for his piano lessons, including pieces from the volume Notebook for Wolfgang, popular pieces such as Ah vous dirai-je Maman (variations), and themes from Sonata in A major, KV 331 and Sonata in C major, KV 545. All pieces can be played with or without pedal.

Available Format: Sheet Music

Johann Sebastian Bach composed countless pieces specifically for his many students. My First Bach contains many of these educational pieces which are, for the most part, arranged in increasing difficulty. Easy two-part chorales and dances are followed by more demanding little preludes, two-part inventions and the first Prelude from the Well-Tempered Clavier.

Available Format: Sheet Music

Chopin's music is technically quite demanding, but thanks to the suitable fingerings of the composer most technical figures are very comfortable in the hands and can be easily played by advanced pianists. The collection contains Chopin's easiest piano pieces in one volume which is perfect for piano lessons – but also for playing the piano at home.

Available Format: Sheet Music

This collection includes pieces from Album for the Young and Scenes from Childhood, enabling young players to experience Romantic piano music for the first time. Ideal for teaching the first use of the pedal, pupils can learn how to play expressively and to distinguish between melody and accompaniment.

Available Format: Sheet Music

My First Tchaikovsky contains easy and intermediate level piano pieces beginning with a selection from the Album for the Young, Op. 39. The pieces from the cycle The Seasons and 12 Pieces of medium difficulty as well as the arrangements from the ballet The Nutcracker with their more demanding piano writing are easy to master by advanced players. Ideal for teaching and playing at home. Great works for little masters!

This collection brings together Joseph Haydn's most beloved and light piano pieces. It contains minuets and German dances, sonatas and single movements as well as a few variations - including some for four hands. In addition, it includes Haydn's piano version of the anthem Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser which later became the German national anthem with the text by Hoffmann von Fallersleben.

My First Grieg contains a selection of the easier to moderately difficult Lyric Pieces as well as three pieces from the Peer Gynt Suites, including the famous Morgenstimmung in the original duet version by the composer.
