Dvořák composed this concerto at his publisher’s suggestion. He drafted it relatively swiftly in summer 1879, but completing it was a more drawn-out process that lasted until 1882. The suite follows traditional fast-slow-fast Classical form.

Five multi-movement trios for piano and two string instruments by Sibelius are known from the years 1883–1888. The “large” trios, such as the Havträsk and Korpo Trio (JS 207, JS 209), were written for the classical piano trio scoring of violin, violoncello and piano. Apparently, Sibelius kept composing trios to play among his family and friends, having in mind to be one of the musicians himself.

Jean Sibelius's Korpo-Trio is also available.

Camille Saint-Saëns’ concert piece Introduction et Rondo capriccioso, Op. 28 was composed in 1863. The orchestral score and parts were first published after the Paris publishing house Durand had acquired publication rights in 1875.

With a smaller budget, Jerry Goldsmith would not be considered to write music for the Star Trek sequel. Instead, Paramount's vice president of music, Joel Sill, turned to a young composer writing top-notch scores for low-budget films: James Horner. Horner amassed a 93-piece orchestra to perform his classic sci-fi score, augmented with pan pipes, a blaster beam, several synthesizers, and a multitude of percussion instruments including waterphones, a bull's roar, and tubophone.

In 1992, Columbia Pictures released director Francis Ford Coppola's sumptuous vision of the Dracula myth. Based on a script penned by James V. Hart, critics praised the film's grand, gorgeous, and gothic production design. Coppola tasked Polish composer, Wojciech Kilar, to write the music for the Eastern European setting. His score reflects both sides of Dracula: the menacing and the sensuous.
