ABRSM Piano Star Series
Piano Star is a series of repertoire books to inspire young pianists and help them to develop their musical skills. Offering a rich selection of imaginative solo pieces and duets for pupils and teachers to play together, each book in the series contains activities to enhance learning.
With over one pieces and arrangements, from a host of leading educational composers, the variety of repertoire provides a rich mix of musical styles, with techniques introduced progressively. Inventive titles such as ‘Wonkey Donkey’, ‘My Best Sandwich’ and ‘Tyrannosaurus Rocks’ are brought to life with colour illustrations by Tim Budgen.
Alongside the core collection of tutor books, the series also includes Piano Star Skills Builder, Piano Star Theory, Piano Star Duets, and Piano Star:Five Finger Tunes.
Piano Star Skills Builder looks at developing musicianship skills for young pianists who are working towards Initial Grade level and beyond. It provides a firm foundation in scales, aural, and sight-reading skills, building essential techniques progressively.
Piano Star Theory is an activity book packed full of engaging exercises and games which can be used alongside any beginner piano tutor to help develop a student's understanding of musical notation.
Piano Star: Five-Finger Tunes brings together twenty-five compositions and arrangements ideal for those who have completed their first tutor book. The collection of fun, creative pieces progressively introduces different hand positions beyond a focus on Middle C, helping learners move towards playing any note with any finger and develop confidence in playing hands together.
Piano Star Duets is an exciting book of twenty-six duets at early beginner to Grade 2 level, containing fun compositions and arrangements in a variety of styles. All pieces have been tried out - and approved! - by children.
