John Simon (Composer)
Born: 12th March 1944, Cape Town, South Africa
John Simon’s musical output includes orchestral, vocal, piano and chamber works. He studied composition at Trinity College of Music and at the Royal College of Music in London. His orchestral music includes a symphony, concertos, an orchestral requiem and symphonic suites. Piano music has long been integral to his work. He has written five piano sonatas along with concert solos and more intimate piano solos. His instrumental works consist mainly of works for wind instruments, including solo and accompanied works for flute, oboe and bassoon. His music has been performed and broadcast internationally, and includes a number of significant BBC premieres.
